The Collage Series
The Collage Series
In 2010, one of my former students, who had left Santa Fe and moved to southern New Mexico, asked me to have a solo exhibition in the small gallery that he had recently opened in Truth or Consequences. At that time, I was very much interested in working in the medium of collage and I felt that this opportunity would allow me to do just that, so I accepted his invitation.
The exhibition not only gave me the freedom to investigate collage making, but it also was the genesis of my further involvement with TorC and, ultimately, the RioBravoFine Art Gallery when I became one of its stable of artists and where I am now having my fourth solo exhibition.
Creating collages nourishes my love and excitement of working, abstractly, with the Elements of Design: line, shape, space, color, value, texture (or pattern.) It is work, but it is also pure fun to design and layer both papers that I have created myself as well as those that I have collected over time.
